Job Summary:
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Nurse to join our Inclusion team working across Staffordshire and Worcestershire prison establishments. You will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality mental health care across wellbeing, primary and secondary services within a secure environment.
This is a unique opportunity to provide holistic, recovery-focused interventions, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. You will hold your own caseload, carry out assessments, plan and deliver interventions, and review care while contributing to the development of mental health pathways within the prison system.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
- ● Provide evidence-based mental health care through assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of care.
- ● Deliver specialist interventions for service users with complex needs in a custodial setting.
- ● Co-ordinate care in line with the Care Programme Approach (CPA).
- ● Conduct risk assessments and manage risk effectively.
- ● Administer and manage medications in accordance with policy.
- ● Contribute to clinical audits, service reviews, and continuous quality improvement.
Liaison & Communication:
- ● Work collaboratively with prison healthcare, internal teams, and external statutory/non-statutory agencies.
- ● Represent the Inclusion team in meetings and multi-agency settings.
- ● Develop links with partner services to ensure continuity of care and service accessibility.
- ● Maintain accurate and timely documentation and electronic records in line with NMC and Trust standards.
Professional & Educational:
- ● Participate in clinical, managerial, and caseload supervision.
- ● Support student nurses, new staff, and deliver mental health awareness training to others.
- ● Contribute to formal and informal training, induction, and mentorship programmes.
- ● Uphold NMC standards, Trust policies, and safeguarding procedures.
Organisational & Managerial:
- ● Work flexibly across sites within Staffordshire and Worcestershire as service needs require.
- ● Use clinical resources effectively and report incidents or care concerns promptly.
- ● Adhere to infection control, equality and diversity, and health & safety protocols.
- ● Engage with IT systems for clinical documentation and data management.
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 weeks
Pay: £24.06-£38.51 per hour
