Catering Assistant

Everest Recruitment and Services Ltd is recruiting for a Catering Assistant to join a busy catering team working for a local authority client in Surrey.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in delivering excellent food and service. The role is available immediately with work running through to August 2026.

THE ROLE

Working as part of a catering team you will assist in the preparation and serving of food to defined quality and hygiene standards. This is a hands-on, physical role requiring flexibility, a positive attitude and a commitment to high standards of hygiene and presentation.

Day to day responsibilities include:

Assisting in the preparation and serving of food to customers Carrying out basic cleaning tasks to keep the facility clean and tidy Operating basic catering equipment safely and correctly Following food hygiene and health and safety procedures at all times Handling cash where required at certain sites Reporting any problems or incidents to your supervisor Working as part of a team or independently depending on site requirements

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

You do not need extensive experience to apply for this role — a positive attitude and willingness to learn are just as important. The following would be beneficial:

Previous experience in a catering or kitchen environment desirable Level 2 Food Safety Certificate — or willingness to achieve during placement Basic numeracy and literacy Good listening skills and ability to follow instructions accurately Ability to carry out manual handling and physically demanding tasks Enhanced DBS clearance — required for school catering sites Full driving licence and access to a vehicle with appropriate insurance — required for mobile or bank roles only
