Social Media Officer – Temporary Agency Assignment

Everest Recruitment and Services Ltd is recruiting a Social Media Officer for a temporary agency assignment with a public sector client in Essex Brentwood.

Pay: £16.66–£17.90 per hour PAYE, subject to agreed assignment rate.
Hours: 37 hours per week.
Assignment dates: 12 October 2026 to 8 January 2027.
Working arrangement: Hybrid, with 2–3 office days per week and the remaining days worked from home. Attendance at two office locations within Essex is required.

About the role

We are looking for a creative, proactive communicator who can turn public sector projects, services and achievements into compelling social content that informs, educates and engages residents.

Key responsibilities

• Create engaging, high-quality content across social media platforms.
• Write social posts, articles and campaign messaging.
• Develop graphics and imagery for social media, newsletters and internal communications.
• Capture and edit smartphone photography and video.
• Schedule, publish and optimise social media content.
• Monitor and respond to comments and messages professionally.
• Handle sensitive discussions and protect the client’s reputation.

Essential requirements

• Proven experience managing corporate social media accounts, with evidence of successful campaigns.
• Experience creating original content and moderating corporate social media channels.
• Strong understanding of social media listening and community management.
• Ability to create engaging written content, graphics, photography and video.
• Excellent communication skills, including adapting tone for different audiences.
• A proactive approach and the ability to work independently.
• Availability for the assignment and ability to travel to office locations within Essex.
