Social Worker – Children in Care

Everest Recruitment & Services is acting as an Employment Business on behalf of 
well-established Local Authority in the East of England. We are seeking an 
experienced Social Worker to join their dedicated Children in Care team.

This is a locum opportunity for a case-holding social worker who thrives on direct work 
with children, care planning, and court proceedings. You will manage a caseload of 
children in long-term care and those progressing through permanency planning.

Key duties include:
- Conducting direct work to capture children's lived experiences, wishes, and feelings
- Creating Life Story Books and supporting life story work
- Drafting, reviewing, and updating Children's Care Plans
- Preparing high-quality reports for Children in Care Reviews and Court
- Collaborating with carers, families, IROs, Guardians, Health, and Education professionals

Hybrid working is offered (3 days office-based, 2 remote), though frequent travel to rural 

Contract: 14 weeks | 37 hours/week | 09:00–17:30 | Inside IR35
Rate: Competitive (PAYE, via Everest's payroll) | Start: 15/07/2026

Requirements:
- SWE registration with valid PIN
- Proven experience in Children's Services, particularly Care Proceedings
- Enhanced DBS with Children's Barred List (must be on Update Service)
- Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)
- Completion of DfE form and DVLA consent
