Everest Recruitment and Services Ltd is recruiting an experienced Assistant Team Manager to support an Adult Social Care service for a local authority client in Dudley.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and professionally registered social worker with strong leadership, safeguarding and supervisory experience. The successful candidate will support the Team Manager in maintaining high standards of professional practice, managing team performance and ensuring positive outcomes for adults, carers and families.
Main responsibilities
The successful candidate will:

Provide professional leadership and operational support to a team of social workers and associated practitioners.

Support the Team Manager with the allocation, oversight and management of complex caseloads.
-
Provide regular, reflective and professionally challenging supervision to social work staff.
-
Monitor the quality of assessments, care planning, case recording and risk management.
-
Lead and coordinate adult safeguarding enquiries, strategy discussions and case conferences where required.
-
Provide professional social work advice in complex, high-risk or sensitive situations.
-
Ensure practice complies with relevant legislation, statutory guidance, professional standards and local procedures.
-
Support staff to apply strengths-based, person-centred and outcome-focused approaches.
-
Address performance or practice concerns appropriately and contribute to staff development.
-
Promote equality, dignity, independence, inclusion and individual choice.
-
Work collaboratively with adults, carers, families, health professionals and partner organisations.
-
Contribute to service development, policy implementation and organisational change.
-
Deputise for the Team Manager when required.

Assist with complaints, recruitment, performance management and service monitoring.
Essential requirements
Applicants must have:
-
A recognised Social Work qualification, such as a Social Work degree, DipSW or CQSW.

Current registration with Social Work England.
-
At least four years’ post-qualified social work experience.
-
Significant recent experience within adult social care.
-
Experience supervising qualified social workers and supporting reflective practice.
-
Strong knowledge of adult safeguarding procedures and statutory social work responsibilities.
-
Sound working knowledge of relevant adult social care legislation, including the Care Act 2014 and Mental Capacity Act 2005.

Experience assessing and managing complex risk.
-
The ability to analyse complex or conflicting information and make defensible professional decisions.
-
Strong leadership, communication, organisation and workload-management skills.
-
Confidence addressing practice-quality and performance concerns.
-
Competence using electronic case-management and information systems.
-
The ability to work collaboratively with individuals, carers, families and multidisciplinary professionals.
-
The right to work in the United Kingdom.
Experience relating to specialist areas such as learning disabilities, autism, dementia or sensory impairment would be advantageous.
Driving requirement
A valid driving licence and the ability to travel in connection with the role are required. Where a personal vehicle is used, appropriate business-use motor insurance and a valid MOT certificate, where applicable, will be required.
