Everest Recruitment and Services Ltd is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Science Teacher for a secondary academy in Croydon.

The successful candidate will teach Science across secondary and, where required, sixth-form year groups. This position is suitable for a confident teacher with strong subject knowledge, effective classroom-management skills and a commitment to helping students achieve positive outcomes.

Main responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging Science lessons.
  • Teach students across Key Stages 3 and 4, with potential Key Stage 5 teaching.
  • Assess and monitor student progress.
  • Maintain positive behaviour and an inclusive learning environment.
  • Adapt lessons to meet different learning needs.
  • Support students preparing for GCSE and sixth-form examinations.
  • Work collaboratively with the Science department and wider school team.
  • Follow all safeguarding, behaviour and school policies.

Essential requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status or a recognised equivalent.
  • Relevant Science degree or strong subject specialism.
  • Previous experience teaching Science in a secondary-school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of the secondary Science curriculum.
  • Effective classroom and behaviour-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding children and young people.
  • Enhanced DBS certificate or willingness to complete the required check.
  • Right to work in the United Kingdom.

Experience teaching Biology, Chemistry or Physics at GCSE or sixth-form level would be advantageous.
